The Centre for Obesity Surgery

The Centre for Obesity Surgery which is located at AZ Sint-Jan is led by Dr Bruno Dillemans.

Dr. Dillemans has already performed more than 16,000 successful bariatric (weight loss) surgeries.

Surgeons from around the world come to Brugge to meet Dr. Dillemans, his team and to learn of his globally renowned surgical techniques. The Obesity Centre at AZ Sint-Jan has therefore become a world reference centre for both primary bariatric surgery and revisional bariatric surgery.

Access

Your relatives, friends or acquaintances are welcome in the restaurant. For Lunch or dinner we ask that patients refrain from entering the restaurant in sleep attire.

As a patient, please feel free to make free use of the restaurant, cafeteria and terrace with adjoining garden and pond. Please inform the nurse on your ward when you are both leaving and coming back from your bedroom.

Choice

In the afternoon there is a choice between two hot daily specials and a cold dish (see “Menu for this week”). In the evening you can choose between an evening dish and a cold dish.

Cafeteria

First floor – Follow Route 125

On the first floor between orthopaedics and medical imaging services, there is a cafeteria with a separate smoking room. You can buy this hot beverages and soft drinks at a vending machine.

For meals, cold dishes, light snacks can be enjoyed in the restaurant on the ground floor.

Free wifi hotspot :

In the cafeteria, there is a hotspot (name: “AZ-cafeteria hotspot”) which is freely accessible and unsecured. This service is intended for patients, visitors and companies. Also, hospital staff can go there during their lunch break to do some Internet surfing.

Their use is reserved for personal devices such as smart phones, i-books, netbooks or laptops.

ICT service does not support this free service. The action is as hotels, schools and other public spaces.

Telephone in room

All rooms are equipped with telephones that work with a smart card.

GSM use

Mobile phone use is allowed in the hospital with the exception of a number of departments indicated. You must keep all mobile phones at least 1 meter away from all active medical devices to avoid causing faults. Our employees use DECT phones that look like mobile phones, however, these devices have a much lower power than GSM and can therefore be used anywhere.

Internet

The hospital offers free wireless internet for all inpatients in Campus Sint-Jan.

Patients who wish to make use of the wifi should request a login and password from the reception. The patient (or his/her family) can come to the reception during opening hours (from 07:00 to 20:00, weekends from 08:00 to 20:00). Patients should bring their personal laptops or tablet with a wireless network to make use of this service.

For visitors there is a fixed internet PC available in the medical library (Route 1500) on the 15th floor.

Hours: 10 to 12 and 14 to 17.30. Hotspot

There is a free wireless hotspot in the cafeteria on the first floor (see above) and, in an emergency (areas where patients stay).

In the hospital as a patient or visitor you can only smoke in the designated smoking room on the first floor next to the cafeteria.
